3 Things I learnt from doing the Spartan Hurricane Heat

After the Spartan Trifecta, what next? Spartan Hurricane Heat felt like the challenge that scared me and excited me at the same time, decided to sign-up for the Spartan Hurricane Heat in Lake Tahoe 0n Sep 29th, 2018(https://youtu.be/iY5GVmhH0t0).

Started training for it seriously from June 2018 and finally, it is race day. One of the rules of the Spartan HH, was to be on the event site 30 mts prior to start time, memorize the warrior ethos, bring gear list from the event email. got there on time, met my fellow Spartan HH racers, some of them are veterans, you can tell by the way they had hanged the chem lights, the head lamps etc. and you can see a calmness in them. Our Krypteias called out our names and we

were asked to line up alphabetically. Once the Id verification was completed our event started. Things started fine, now ~40mts into the event, I started to feel a discomfort, part of it was the elevation and the other part was the intensity of the tasks one after the other without breaks, was taking a toll on me (bear crawls, wheel barrow, burpees etc. on the rough rock and sand terrain in Tahoe hills), heart was beating fast, tried to push through it and after a few mts, hit a wall felt like I CANNOT move any further:-(. I raised my hand and walked to one of my Krypteia and told him I don’t think I can finish this, and his response was one of the most valuable and critical aspect of that event, he looked me in the eye and without any hesitation said, “trust me you are going to finish this, we all been through this and we are way more capable than what we think we can, so keep moving and move with purpose, dig deeper and remember your warrior ethos”,

I will always place the mission first.

I will never accept defeat.

I will never quit.

I will never leave a fallen comrade.

Wow, that was powerful, I wouldn’t say things became easy after that, but I felt energized and the mere thought, your team and your krypteias believe you can do this, gave me an energy boost. Yes, I struggled through the 5+ hrs of that crazy endurance event but, I did NOT think about quitting anymore. It was for sure one of the best experiences I have endured, taught me so many valuable lessons. Experienced it first hand – Team Work, doing the things that make you Un-comfortable and Hang-out with the people who you aspire to become.

Knowing when you have a team, who count on you and got your back. The Krypteias challenge you, to get you out of your comfort zone, yet believe you can complete the mission was such a valuable lesson which I will carry with me forever.

As the new year is approaching, will be doing more of these endurance events, which gives a great deal of satisfaction and the type of friendships/bonds it fosters with complete strangers cannot be explained in words. My Wish to you, create more memories in 2019 and transform yourself and be the best version of yourself.

Wish you all happiness, success, health and wealth in 2019, 10X your Goals and let 2019 be the best year ever!!!
